Course This unit incorporates the content of units: - HLTAID009 – Provide CPR
- HLTAID010 – Provide Basic Emergency Life Support
- HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid
- HLTAID012 – Provide Emergency First aid Response for Education and Care Setting
Objective To equip participants with the theoretical knowledge and practical application to competently administer emergency first aid, as well as the treatment of other illnesses and injuries in an education and care setting in accordance with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines. Assessment Emergency First Aid Response for Education and Care Setting has both practical and theoretical elements, where participants demonstrate procedures of techniques used and exhibit the necessary knowledge on administering First Aid in accordance with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines and the Health Training Package. Alternative assessments can be made (eg. Oral). Content - Legal Issues
- Chain of Survival
- Training in the use of an AED (Defibrillator)
- DRSABCD of resuscitation
- Demonstrations and practice on manikins (eg. infant, child and adult)
- Asthma and Anaphylaxis
- Hygiene
- Choking methods
- Practical and theoretical assessment
- First aid hygiene
- Trauma management
- Medical Emergencies
- Bites and stings
- Manual Handling
Length This course can be conducted in one of two ways at the discretion of the client: - A 7 hour course or
- A short course covering all practical components with online component.
Validity The ARC recommends:
HLTAID010 – Provide Basic Emergency Life Support HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid HLTAID012 – Provide Emergency First aid Response for Education and Care Setting, be renewed three years from the completion date. ARC recommends unit HLTAID009 – Provide CPR renewed every 12 months
